Blank Canvas transforms the way retailers showcase products

Special Report: The partnership with Bedshed allows Vection to showcase the power of its extended reality technology for retailers.

Extended reality (XR) tech company Vection Technologies (ASX:VR1) has announced a partnership with Bedshed that could transform the way retailers showcase their product range.

Bedshed – one of Australia’s largest mattress, bedding and furniture retailers – is working with Vection’s subsidiary, Blank Canvas Studios to supplement traditional product photography with 3D computer-generated imagery (CGI) to showcase its collection of furniture products.

The partnership involves the  creation of 3D bedroom ‘sets’ to be populated with Bedshed’s range of furniture – from ‘Hamptons’ to ‘French Provincial’, ‘Industrial’, ‘Urban’, ‘Kids’ themes and more.

These 3D sets are designed by Blank Canvas Studios’ interior design and 3D artistry teams to appeal to a diverse range of Bedshed’s consumer demographics.

Louise Kaminskis, Bedshed’s Assistant Marketing Manager, said that being able to create unlimited combinations of bedroom backdrops and product suites will add enormous value to the business.

“We’re saving time and money while elevating the level of presentation of our products,” she said.

“Our franchisees were blown away by the realism. We presented the first set of renders without comment, and they all believed it was photography. This validates what we believe is a really innovative marketing approach.”

How XR technology helps businesses

Bedshed has embraced the 3D revolution, and its partnership with Vection represents a significant shift in how retailers could showcase their products in photorealistic detail across the brand’s marketing collateral.

The flexibility of CGI and highly detailed 3D models means Bedshed can showcase bedroom furniture from any angle – showcasing styling details, finishes, and key product features like USB charging stations and under-bed gas lift storage.

The benefits of this innovative solution to a retail business like Bedshed are numerous – from reduced costs compared with traditional photoshoots, to increased creative flexibility, resource efficiency, and budget maximisation.

The CGI solution also allows the retailer to actively promote and sell products online that have yet to even arrive in Australia.

“Bedshed’s forward-thinking approach has made them one of the first movers in the 3D revolution, setting a new standard in the retail industry,” said Paul Clayton, Vection Technologies’ APAC CEO.

“When combined with the immersive power of AR/VR and cloud 3D, this technology has the potential to increase online and in-store sales.”

Vection Technologies is a company that leverages its 3D data via powerful XR interfaces that foster collaboration to grow business sales.

The company is progressing the development of its INTEGRATEDXR technology stack to help businesses bridge their physical and digital worlds.
